James Duhamel

Owner of Tone Studio
Composer, mixer

Composer, mixer, and owner of Tone Studio, James Duhamel completed a B.Mus. in Composition at the Université de Montréal. He started his artistic career in 1996 with his ensemble Wetfish and has been composing for film and television for the past 15 years.

James gained valuable experience thanks to his passion for sound to moving images, his go get’em attitude and his close involvement with the creative teams of the films on which he collaborated. He now mixes his peers’ music, manages teams, finds talent for proposed projects and adds his personal touch in sound post-production. His work supports various forms of expression: films, documentaries, video games, art videos and installations.

Nominated for a Prix Gémeaux (French-language Gemini Award), sound designer and mixer for the Best Documentary Short Subject at the 2014 Oscars, The Lady in Number 6, James has seen his compositions and work featured in movie theatres, in video games as well as in a great variety of TV and web channels both in Canada and abroad.
